Sullivan Walsh Associates has been privileged to serve more than 100 clients since 1995. I am proud of the successes our clients have achieved, and of our role as partner. In the two decades since I founded the firm, we have established and refined four principles fundamental to performance improvement:

  1. Paint a vivid picture of a better state. This requires building a solid economic model for change, assimilating straightforward research, and presenting a compelling story.
  2. Base performance improvement on role clarity. We provide a concise methodology for describing and teaching roles that enable teams and individuals to execute with precision.
  3. Prepare managers to lead. Managers, not HR, must lead in recruiting, selecting, deploying, evaluating, training, developing, and coaching people. We develop simple processes for each of these tasks, and teach managers how to execute them.
  4. Be honest and brave. Communicating effectively is necessary for improving performance. We help organizations convey messages clearly and in an adult-to-adult style.
